Technical hiring managers often scan for specific tools and methods first. These templates put a skills section near the top, give projects their own section, and keep job entries compact so technical detail stays readable.

Tips for technical resumes

  • Group your skills (for example languages, frameworks, tools, cloud) instead of one long list.
  • Name the tools in your bullet points too, so each skill has evidence behind it.
  • Projects: say what you built, which tools you used and what it achieved.
  • Certifications with the issuing body and year.

Use the builder’s job-description comparison to see which terms from an advert already appear in your resume. Add a term only if it is true for you.

Make your skills checkable

A skill listed at the top carries more weight when the same tool appears in a job or project below it. Pair each important tool with something you built or fixed using it, and drop tools you have only read about.

Questions

Should I add links to my code or portfolio?

Yes. Add a portfolio or code profile in the contact details, and make sure what it shows is your own work.

How do I list contract or freelance projects?

Group them under one entry with a date range, then list the main projects with the client type, your role and the stack.

Do skill ratings help?

Bars and star ratings cannot be read by most applicant tracking systems and mean little to a reader. These templates show skills as text only.
