Using the built-in ATS check
What does the job-description comparison show me?
It shows which of the job description's most frequent terms appear in your resume and which do not. You paste the job advert, and the tool compares the two.
How to read the results:
- Terms that appear: good, but check they are used in a meaningful context.
- Terms that do not appear: ask whether you genuinely have that skill or experience.
- Generic words: ignore common terms that do not describe a skill, such as the company name or "team".
The comparison is a prompt for your judgement, not a list to copy. Add missing terms only where they are true, ideally inside a bullet that shows how you used the skill. Run the comparison again with each new advert, because every employer describes the role a little differently, and the terms that matter for one job may not matter for the next.
