Using the built-in ATS check

Why is my ATS-readiness score low?

Usually because some parts of your resume are missing, incomplete or hard to follow. The rules shown in the tool tell you exactly which checks you did not meet, so start there.

Common causes worth checking:

  • Missing or incomplete contact details.
  • Sections left empty or holding only a heading.
  • Leftover sample text or [bracketed] prompts.
  • Very short entries with no description of what you did.
  • Dates missing from jobs or education.

Fix the items one by one, then run the check again. Some rules may not suit your situation, such as a section you have no content for. It is fine to leave those rather than invent content to raise the number. Remember that the score is an internal estimate, not an employer's verdict, so a clear and honest resume matters more than reaching a particular figure.
