Importing an existing resume (PDF or Word)

How do I import my existing resume into ResumeBuilder.ae?

Choose the import option when starting a resume, select your PDF or Word (.docx) file, then check every section the builder fills in. The file can be up to 5 MB.

What happens:

  • Your file is read in your browser, not uploaded.
  • The builder places the text it finds into resume sections, such as work experience, education and skills.
  • You then review each imported section and correct anything that landed in the wrong place.

Before importing:

  • Make sure the file is not password-protected; protected files cannot be imported.
  • Check that it contains real text. Scanned, image-only PDFs have no text to read.
  • Keep your original file as a backup.

After importing:

  • Check names, dates, job titles and employers carefully.
  • Split long paragraphs into bullets and remove odd characters.
  • Choose a template and review the preview.

Import saves typing, but no import is perfect, so plan a careful review before you download.
