Accountant resume
How should I list CPA, ACCA, CA or CMA qualifications?
List professional qualifications in their own section near the top, with the full name, the abbreviation, the awarding body and the year, or your progress if you are still studying. Accounting employers often check this first.
Example (fictional):
"Professional Qualifications
- ACCA – Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, member since 2022
- CMA (Certified Management Accountant) – Part 1 passed, 2025"
You can also add the abbreviation after your name in the header once you are a full member, such as "Ravi Menon, ACCA". Whether a qualification or licence is required depends on the role and country, so check the employer's requirements. Never list a qualification as complete if you have only passed some papers. If you hold qualifications from more than one country, write the awarding body in full once, for example "CA (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India)", so readers abroad recognise it. Keep membership numbers off the resume unless the employer asks; they can be shared during checks.
