Business Analyst resume
How do I write an entry-level business analyst resume without a BA job title?
Build it around analysis work you have already done in other roles, study or projects, and use a summary that clearly names the BA role you want. Many business analysts start in operations, customer service, QA, finance or support, where they already mapped processes, wrote requirements or tested changes without having the title.
What to include:
- A summary such as "Operations coordinator moving into business analysis, with experience mapping processes and testing system changes."
- A skills section with BA methods you can demonstrate: process mapping, requirements documentation, Excel, basic SQL.
- Bullets from your current job that show analysis.
- An ECBA certificate or a short BA course, if you have one.
- One or two projects, such as a university capstone or a volunteer process review.
Example (fictional): "Documented the returns process for a 12-person warehouse team, identified three rework steps and proposed a new checklist adopted by the supervisor."
Example (fictional): "Tested a new ticketing system release with five colleagues and reported 18 defects with clear reproduction steps."
Keep your real job titles. The content of your bullets, not a changed title, is what proves you are ready for an entry-level business analyst post.
