Civil Engineer resume

How do I write a fresh graduate civil engineer resume?

Lead with your degree and final project, then show internships, site visits, software skills and any lab or design work with real outcomes. Graduate employers look for practical understanding and willingness to learn on site.

What to include:

  • Education: degree, university, year, final project and grade if strong.
  • Internships: site or design office tasks you did yourself.
  • Software: AutoCAD, ETABS or STAAD.Pro, Civil 3D, Excel.
  • Training: safety induction, software courses.

Example (fictional): "Summer intern, residential project: checked rebar against drawings and recorded concrete cube samples for testing."

Example (fictional): "Final-year project: designed a three-storey reinforced concrete school building and compared results in ETABS and hand calculations."

Example (fictional): "Surveying camp: carried out levelling and traverse surveys with a total station."

Keep it to one page and name the type of role you want, such as graduate site engineer or junior structural engineer.
