Receptionist resume

How do I write a receptionist resume summary that stands out?

Name the type of front desk you run, how busy it is, the systems you use and one sign that visitors and colleagues rely on you. A receptionist summary should feel as welcoming and organised as you are at the desk, in three short lines.

Include:

  • Setting: corporate office, medical or dental clinic, law firm, school, salon, car showroom.
  • Volume: visitors, calls or appointments per day.
  • Systems: switchboard, appointment software, visitor management, Microsoft 365.
  • Languages, if you greet visitors in more than one.

Example (fictional): "Receptionist with three years at a busy dental clinic, managing a 12-line phone system, booking around 60 appointments a day and keeping the waiting area calm and on time. Fluent in English and Arabic."

Example (fictional): "Corporate receptionist for a 200-person head office, handling visitor sign-in, meeting-room bookings and courier deliveries with a friendly, professional manner."

Avoid a list of adjectives like "bubbly, punctual, presentable". Show those qualities through your setting, volume and results, and adjust the summary for each employer type.
