What is a good summary for a retail sales assistant resume?

Say what kind of store you work in, what you sell, how you help customers and one result such as sales, upsells or customer feedback. Three lines are enough, and they should sound friendly and confident.

Include:

• Store type: fashion, electronics, supermarket, pharmacy, beauty, luxury, home furnishing.
• Main tasks: advising customers, tills, stock replenishment, visual merchandising.
• A result: personal sales, loyalty sign-ups, mystery shopper scores, awards.
• Languages, if you serve customers in more than one.

Example (fictional): "Retail sales assistant with two years in a busy fashion store, helping around 100 customers a day, keeping the floor merchandised to brand standards and regularly meeting personal sales targets. Fluent in English, Arabic and Tagalog."

Example (fictional): "Electronics sales assistant who explains products in plain language, with strong results in accessory and warranty add-on sales."

Avoid lines such as "hard-working and friendly team player" on their own. Show those qualities through what you sell, how many customers you serve and what you achieve.
