Writing bullet points
How long should each bullet point be?
One to two lines on the page is ideal, which is roughly 10 to 25 words. Short bullets are easy to scan, and a two-line limit forces you to keep only the important part.
If a bullet is too long:
- Remove filler words: "was responsible for", "in order to", "various".
- Split it into two bullets if it covers two different things.
- Move tool lists to your skills section.
Too long: "Was responsible for handling the day-to-day running of the warehouse inventory system and making sure that all stock was correct and also helping with the monthly counts and reports for management."
Better: "Managed daily inventory in SAP for a 10,000-SKU warehouse and led monthly stock counts."
Very short bullets ("Data entry.") are also weak because they lack context. Aim for a full, specific line.
