Resume length and what to cut

Should I keep one long master resume and shorter versions for each job?

Yes, this is one of the easiest ways to manage length. The master version holds everything you have done; each application version keeps only what fits that job.

How to use it:

  • Add every role, project, result and course to the master, with full detail and correct dates.
  • For each application, copy the master and cut down to the relevant one or two pages.
  • When you achieve something new, add it to the master first.

This means you never lose a good bullet by cutting it, and tailoring becomes a selection task rather than rewriting from scratch. In ResumeBuilder.ae you can save up to 10 resumes, so a master and several tailored versions can sit side by side.
