Two-column templates put skills and languages in a narrow side column, which lets a lot of information fit on one page. They are a good choice when a person reads your resume first, for example when you hand it over or send it to a recruiter directly.

Previews are drawn in your browser from the same layout code as the PDF, with fictional sample content. Filter and search by style, colour, industry, columns and more. Choosing a template opens it in the builder.
Two columns and applicant tracking systems
Some applicant tracking systems read a page from left to right across both columns, which can mix your skills into your job history. Every two-column template here was tested by reading its PDF back with a standard PDF text reader and our importer, and the main column came out in the right order. Systems differ, though, so the builder labels these layouts “more complex”. If you apply through online forms, a single-column template is the safer choice.
Tips
- Keep the side column short: skills, languages and contact details.
- Put all of your experience and education in the main column.
- Check the ATS-readiness result in the builder before you download.
Choosing between one and two columns
If you are sending your resume to a person, a two-column layout can fit more on one page and looks organised. If you are uploading it to a careers portal, choose a single-column template from the same family. You can switch template at any time, and your content stays the same.
Questions
Which side should the column be on?
Either works. A left column is read first, so put your strongest short items there; a right column keeps the focus on your experience.
What should not go in the side column?
Long text. Job history, education and achievements belong in the main column, where they are read in order.
Can I print a two-column resume?
Yes. All templates use A4 or US Letter page sizes and print cleanly.
