Pakistan CV and resume guidance
What CV format do employers in Pakistan usually expect?
Most private employers in Pakistan expect a one- or two-page CV in English, in reverse chronological order, with clear sections for experience, education and skills. Multinationals, banks, software houses and large local groups in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad screen many CVs quickly, often through job portals or applicant tracking systems.
A common structure:
- Header: name, professional title, mobile with +92, email and city.
- Optional personal details: nationality, driving licence and notice period.
- Summary: three or four lines for experienced candidates.
- Experience: latest first, with achievements.
- Education: degree, university, years and CGPA or marks.
- Certifications, skills and languages.
Traditional Pakistani CVs often begin with a long personal information block. Modern employers prefer this kept short. Government jobs and some public-sector bodies use their own forms, so follow their format exactly when applying there. Send your CV as a PDF unless the employer asks for Word.
