Qatar CV and resume guidance
How is a CV for Qatar different from a CV for the UAE?
The basic format is very similar: a clear, one- to two-page CV in English, with optional personal details such as nationality, residence status and notice period. The differences are mostly in emphasis, because Qatar's job market is smaller and centred on different sectors.
What tends to differ:
- Sectors: Qatar has many roles in energy, especially gas, plus construction, facilities management, aviation, hospitality, education and finance.
- Location detail: many jobs are in Doha, but energy roles may be at industrial cities or offshore.
- Networks: in a smaller market, referrals and recruitment agencies play a big part.
- Employer types: semi-government and large national companies are major employers.
Adjust your summary and lead bullets to the sector, and keep your personal details consistent with the documents you hold. If you are already applying in the UAE, one base CV can serve both countries, with a tailored summary and bullet order for each application.
