Interior Designer resume

What should an interior designer resume include?

An interior designer resume should include a short summary, a skills section with your design software, work experience with project-based bullets, education, and a link to your online portfolio. Employers hiring interior designers want proof that you can take a space from brief to handover, so each role should show the type of projects, their scale and your part in them.

A strong structure looks like this:

  • Header with name, title ("Interior Designer"), phone, email, city and portfolio link.
  • Summary of three or four lines naming your sector (residential, hospitality, retail, workplace).
  • Skills grouped as software, technical and client-facing.
  • Experience with bullets on concept design, FF&E, documentation and site coordination.
  • Education, then certifications or professional memberships.

Example summary line (fictional): "Interior designer with six years in hospitality fit-outs, from concept boards to snagging, for boutique hotels and restaurants."

Keep images in your portfolio, not on the resume itself, so the document stays easy for applicant tracking systems to read.
