How do I write an IT support resume with no IT job experience?

Lead with a certification or training, a home lab or project section, and transferable customer service experience. Entry-level support managers look for basic technical knowledge plus patience with users.

Ideas:

  • Home lab: set up a Windows Server domain, a small network, or Microsoft 365 test tenant and document it.
  • Volunteer: helping a school, charity or family business with computers.
  • Transferable work: retail, call centre or hospitality roles show calm customer handling.

Example lines (fictional):

  • "Built a home lab with Windows Server, Active Directory and two client PCs to practise user and group policy management."
  • "Handled 60 customer queries a day at a mobile phone shop, including device set-up and data transfer."

Put certifications and the lab near the top.
