Resume length and what to cut

I have more than 20 years of experience. How do I keep my resume to two pages?

Focus detail on the last 10 to 15 years, summarise the rest, and let your summary carry the long career story. Two pages is a common expectation for experienced candidates, and long experience is not a reason to go far beyond it.

Practical steps:

  • Give your two or three most recent roles full bullets that show scope and results.
  • Reduce earlier senior roles to two bullets about your biggest achievements.
  • Put the earliest roles into one "Earlier career" line.
  • List only the qualifications and certifications that still matter.
  • Cut task descriptions that a reader would assume at your level, such as "attended management meetings".

Your summary can mention the total length of your career in one phrase, for example "a 22-year career in hospitality operations". That signals depth without listing every job.
