Part-time and casual jobs

How do I list tutoring work on my resume?

List tutoring as a job in Work Experience if you were paid regularly, with a clear title such as "Private Tutor" or "Mathematics Tutor", the dates and the location (or "Online").

Then add bullets that show what you taught, to whom and what changed:

  • Subjects and levels: "Tutored secondary school students in mathematics and physics."
  • Planning: "Prepared weekly practice sheets and mock tests tailored to each student."
  • Results, if you know them honestly: "Two students moved up a grade band in their end-of-year exams."

If you tutored privately for several families, treat it as one entry rather than one entry per student. Do not include students' names or any personal details about them. Tutoring is especially useful evidence for teaching, training, consulting and any role that needs clear explanations.
