Singapore CV and resume guidance
A Singapore application asks for my last drawn salary. Does it go on my resume?
No. Keep salary information off the resume. Singapore employers and recruiters often ask for "last drawn salary" and "expected salary" in application forms or interviews, but the resume itself should contain only your experience and qualifications.
What to do:
- Answer salary questions in the form field or when asked, honestly.
- For expected salary, base your answer on research for the role, industry and your experience.
- If a form makes the field optional, you can leave it blank or give a range.
Keeping salary off the resume means you can use the same document for every application.
If you speak to a recruitment agency, they will often ask for both figures early on so they can match you to suitable roles. Give accurate numbers and say whether your current package includes elements such as bonuses or allowances, so comparisons are fair. Never inflate your last drawn salary; employers may verify it later, and an inaccurate figure can cost you the offer.
