Singapore CV and resume guidance
What do Singapore employers usually expect in a resume?
A concise, results-focused resume of about two pages, in reverse chronological order, written in English. Singapore is a busy, competitive market, and recruiters commonly scan for job titles, employers, dates, qualifications and measurable achievements.
Common elements:
- Name, phone with +65 or your country code, email and LinkedIn link.
- A short professional summary.
- Work experience with achievement bullets.
- Education, including diplomas and degrees, with institution and year.
- Skills, certifications and languages.
- Often a line on availability or notice period, and sometimes residency or work pass status.
Photos are optional and not generally expected. Many applicants leave out personal details such as age, marital status, race and religion, which have nothing to do with ability to do the job. Both "resume" and "CV" are used in Singapore, usually meaning the same document. Send a PDF unless the employer or portal asks for another format.
