Keeping several versions for different jobs

Should I have more than one version of my resume?

Yes, if you apply for more than one type of role. A single resume that tries to fit every job usually ends up vague, while a version aimed at one kind of role can lead with the skills and results that matter for it.

You do not need a new version for every application. A practical set-up is:

  • One master resume with everything you have done, kept for reference only.
  • One focused version for each job family you target, for example "operations" and "procurement".
  • Small edits per application, such as the summary line and the order of skills.

If all your applications are for the same kind of job, one well-written resume plus light tailoring is enough. The goal is relevance, not a large collection of files.
