Resume Builder and CV Maker

Saving, accounts, privacy and your data

Your resume holds a lot of personal information, so it helps to know where it is saved and who can see it. This guide explains how ResumeBuilder.ae saves guest resumes in your browser, when logging in or downloading a JSON backup protects your work, and what happens when you clear browser data or switch devices. It also covers deleting resumes, who can see them, search engines, sharing safely with employers and friends, shared and public computers, job portals and common job scams. Use it to keep your resume safe and under your control throughout your job search.

How does ResumeBuilder.ae save my resume if I don't have an account?

As a guest, your resumes are saved against a private key in the browser you are using. You can close the page and come back later in the same browser on the same device, and your resumes will be there.

The important limits:

  • Clearing your browser's site data removes the key, and you lose access to your guest resumes.
  • Switching to another device or browser does not bring your resumes with you.
  • Closing a private or incognito window can have the same effect as clearing site data.

How to protect your work:

  • Log in if you expect to use more than one device.
  • Download a backup from the My resumes tab with "Download all my resumes (JSON)", especially after big editing sessions.
  • Keep your downloaded PDFs somewhere safe.

Guest mode is convenient for quick work on one device. If your resume matters to you over weeks or months, add a login or regular backups so you are not relying on a single browser.

What does it mean that guest resumes are saved against a private key?

It means your guest resumes are linked to a private identifier stored in your browser, rather than to an account with a username. Your browser holds the key, so that browser can open your resumes again.

In practice:

  • The same browser on the same device can find your resumes.
  • Another browser, another device or a private window does not have the key.
  • If the browser's site data is cleared, the key is gone and so is your access.

That is why logging in or keeping a backup matters. A backup made with "Download all my resumes (JSON)" in My resumes keeps a copy of your data that does not depend on the browser.

You do not need to see or manage the key yourself; just be aware that your access depends on that browser's stored data.

Will I lose my resume if I clear my browser history or data?

You can, if you are working as a guest and clear the site data. On ResumeBuilder.ae, guest resumes are saved against a private key in your browser, and clearing site data removes it.

What usually causes the loss:

  • "Clear browsing data" with cookies and site data selected.
  • Privacy settings that delete site data when the browser closes.
  • Phone cleaner apps that wipe browser storage.
  • Resetting or reinstalling the browser.

Clearing only your browsing history list may not affect site data, but browsers differ, and it is easy to tick extra boxes by accident.

Before clearing anything:

  • Download a backup with "Download all my resumes (JSON)" from My resumes.
  • Or log in, so your access does not depend on that browser's data.

If you have already cleared the data without a backup or login, access to those guest resumes is lost. A downloaded PDF can be imported to rebuild your resume, then checked section by section.

Can I open my resume on a different computer or phone?

Yes, if you log in, or if you take a backup with you. A guest resume is saved in the browser where you made it, so a new device will not see it on its own.

Your options:

  • Log in on both devices, so your resumes are not tied to one browser.
  • On the first device, download a backup with "Download all my resumes (JSON)" from My resumes, and keep the file where you can reach it.
  • If you only need to send the finished resume, download the PDF on the first device and transfer it.

Plan this before you switch devices. If the first device is lost or wiped without a login or backup, access to its guest resumes is lost too.

Should I log in or keep using the builder as a guest?

Log in if you will work across devices, over a long period, or on resumes you cannot afford to lose. Stay a guest if you are making a quick resume on one device and are happy to keep backups.

Guest mode suits you if:

  • You want to start immediately without an account.
  • You use one personal device and do not clear browser data.
  • You download a JSON backup after important sessions.

Logging in suits you if:

  • You switch between a phone and a computer.
  • Your browser clears data automatically, or you use privacy tools.
  • You are building several versions for a long job search.
  • You use shared computers, such as at a library or school.

Either way, keep your finished PDFs and an occasional backup. No storage method is a substitute for having your own copy of important documents.

What changes when I log in instead of using guest mode?

The main difference is that your access no longer depends only on one browser's stored data. Guest resumes are tied to a private key in that browser; logging in means clearing site data or switching device does not have to cut you off from your resumes.

What stays the same:

  • Building, editing, previewing and all templates remain free.
  • You can still save up to 10 resumes.
  • The PDF download is still US$1.00 per export.
  • Your resumes are still private, not public web pages, and blocked from search engines.

Even when logged in, keep your own backup with "Download all my resumes (JSON)" and keep copies of the PDFs you send. On a shared computer, remember to log out when you finish.

How do I download a backup of all my resumes?

Open the My resumes tab and choose "Download all my resumes (JSON)". This saves a single file containing the data of all your saved resumes.

After downloading:

  • Find the file in your Downloads folder.
  • Rename it with the date, such as "resumes-backup-2026-10-28.json", so you can tell backups apart.
  • Move it to a safe place: a personal folder, your own cloud storage or a USB drive.

When to do it:

  • After a big editing session.
  • Before clearing browser data, resetting a device or switching browsers.
  • Before deleting resumes you might want later.

The backup is for your records, not for employers. Send employers the PDF.

What is a JSON file, and can I open my backup?

JSON is a plain-text data format that stores information in a structured way. Your "Download all my resumes (JSON)" backup holds your resume content as data, not as a formatted document.

What you can do with it:

  • Keep it as a safe copy of your resume data.
  • Open it in a text editor to see the raw text, if you need to recover a sentence or date.

What it is not:

  • It is not a resume to send. It will look like code, with brackets and labels, not like a page.
  • It is not a PDF or Word file.

Treat the JSON file as private. It contains everything you typed into your resumes, including contact details. Store it somewhere only you can access.

Open the resume builder

Can I send my JSON backup file to an employer?

No. The JSON file is a data backup for you, not a document for employers. It looks like code and would confuse a recruiter.

Send employers:

  • Your resume as a PDF, downloaded from the builder.
  • A Word file only if the employer insists. ResumeBuilder.ae exports PDF only, so copy the text from the builder into a word processor to create one.

Keep the JSON file private, because it holds all your saved resumes' data in one place, including versions you may not want an employer to see.

Where should I store my resume backup?

Somewhere private that you can reach even if your current device fails. A good habit is to keep two copies in different places.

Good options:

  • A personal folder on your own computer, not a shared or work computer.
  • Your personal cloud storage, with sharing turned off.
  • A USB drive kept somewhere safe.
  • An email to yourself, if your email account is secure.

Avoid:

  • Shared family folders others can open.
  • Work computers or work cloud accounts, which your employer may control.
  • Public computers.

Store your finished resume PDFs in the same private place, with clear file names and dates, so you know which version you sent where.

How often should I back up my resumes?

After every editing session that you would not want to repeat. During an active job search, that might be every day or two.

Back up especially:

  • After writing or rewriting a lot of content.
  • Before clearing browser data, updating or resetting a device.
  • Before deleting resumes.
  • Before travelling or switching to another computer.

Keep a few recent backups rather than only the latest one, so you can go back if you change something you later regret. Name each with the date. If you log in, backups are still useful as your own copy.

Who can see my resume on ResumeBuilder.ae?

Your resumes are private. They are not public web pages, they are blocked from search engines, and resume content is not sold. Nobody can browse to them or find them by searching.

In practice:

  • Employers and recruiters cannot look up your resume on the site; they see it only when you send it.
  • Anyone using the same browser on the same device could open your guest resumes, so be careful on shared computers.
  • Once you download your PDF and send it to an employer or upload it to a job site, that copy is handled under their policies.

To keep control:

  • Use your own device where possible.
  • On shared computers, delete your resumes from My resumes and remove downloaded files before leaving.
  • Share your PDF only with employers and people you trust.

If you want your data removed, you can delete one or all resumes in My resumes, or email support@jobb.ae.

Will my resume appear in Google or other search results?

No. Resumes on ResumeBuilder.ae are not public web pages and are blocked from search engines, so they should not appear in search results.

Your resume can become searchable only through what you do with it elsewhere, for example:

  • Posting the PDF on a public website or social media.
  • Uploading it to a cloud folder shared with "anyone with the link" and then sharing that link publicly.
  • Making a job-portal profile public.

If you find your resume online somewhere you did not intend, contact the site hosting it and ask for removal. Keep sensitive details such as ID numbers off your resume, so even a copy shared more widely reveals little.

Does ResumeBuilder.ae sell my resume data?

No. Resume content on ResumeBuilder.ae is not sold. Resumes are private, are not public web pages, and are blocked from search engines.

The business model is straightforward: building, templates, checks and saving are free, and you pay US$1.00 when you download a PDF.

For any service you use, it is sensible to read the privacy policy and look for:

  • Whether your resume is shared with recruiters, partners or advertisers.
  • Whether resumes are public by default.
  • How to delete your data.

On ResumeBuilder.ae you can delete one or all resumes in My resumes or by emailing support@jobb.ae. Payment records are kept as needed for accounting.

Can employers find my resume on ResumeBuilder.ae?

No. ResumeBuilder.ae is a tool for making your resume, not a public database. Resumes are private, not public web pages, and blocked from search engines, so employers cannot browse or search them.

To get your resume in front of employers, you need to send it yourself:

  • Download the PDF and upload it to the employer's application page.
  • Attach it to an email when the posting asks for that.
  • Upload it to job portals you choose to use.

This gives you control over who receives each version. It also means you should keep track of where you have applied, so you know which employers have your details.

How do I share my resume with an employer?

Download it as a PDF and send it the way the employer asks: through their application page, by email, or through a job portal. The employer only receives what you send.

Steps:

  • Check the job posting for instructions, such as file format or where to apply.
  • Download your PDF and open it to check it.
  • Give it a clear file name, such as "Maria-Santos-Resume.pdf".
  • Upload or attach it as instructed.

Tips:

  • Follow format instructions exactly; if Word is required, copy your text into a word processor, since the builder exports PDF only.
  • Do not send a link to a private document unless the employer asks for a link.
  • Keep a note of which version you sent to which employer.

Open the resume builder

Can I share a link to my resume instead of a file?

Not from the builder itself: resumes on ResumeBuilder.ae are private and are not public web pages. To share your resume, download the PDF and send the file.

If someone specifically asks for a link:

  • Upload the PDF to your own cloud storage and create a share link.
  • Set the link so only people with the link can view it, and consider turning off downloading if your service allows it.
  • Remove sharing once it is no longer needed.

Most employers prefer a PDF attachment or upload through their application system. A file is also easier for applicant tracking systems to process than a link.

How do I delete one resume?

Go to My resumes and delete the resume you no longer need. Deleting one does not affect your other saved resumes.

Before deleting:

  • Check you have selected the right resume, especially if several have similar names.
  • Download a backup with "Download all my resumes (JSON)" if you might want the content later.
  • Keep any PDFs you have already sent, so you remember what employers received.

Deleting old versions is also a good way to stay within the 10 saved resumes limit and keep your list tidy.

How do I delete all my resumes and data from ResumeBuilder.ae?

You can delete all your resumes in the My resumes tab, or email support@jobb.ae and ask for deletion. Payment records are kept as needed for accounting.

Steps:

  • Download a backup first if you might want your content in future, using "Download all my resumes (JSON)".
  • Save copies of any PDFs you want to keep.
  • In My resumes, choose the option to delete all resumes.
  • If you prefer, or if you cannot access your resumes, email support@jobb.ae with your request.

Also remember copies outside the builder:

  • PDFs and backups in your Downloads folder or cloud storage.
  • Resumes you sent to employers or uploaded to job portals, which those organisations hold under their own policies.

Deleting your builder data does not remove those copies, so contact the employer or portal directly if you want them removed.

If I stop using the builder, should I delete my resumes?

It is a good idea if you no longer need them, especially on a shared device. Keeping personal data only where you need it reduces risk.

Before you delete:

  • Keep a backup with "Download all my resumes (JSON)", since you may need your resume again for future job searches.
  • Save the final PDFs you sent.

Then:

  • Delete your resumes in My resumes, or email support@jobb.ae.
  • Remove downloaded files from shared devices.

If you are on your own private device and expect to job hunt again soon, keeping your resumes saved can save time. Either way, keep your own backup, because browser data can be cleared unexpectedly.

Can I ask support to delete my resumes for me?

Yes. Email support@jobb.ae and ask for your resumes to be deleted. You can also delete one or all resumes yourself in the My resumes tab.

In your email, include:

  • The email address you used, if you logged in or paid.
  • A clear request, such as "Please delete all my resumes and associated resume data."

Note that payment records are kept as needed for accounting, so a record of any payments may remain.

If you work as a guest and can still see your resumes in your browser, deleting them in My resumes yourself is usually the quickest way.

Read the FAQ

What information is kept after I delete my resumes?

Payment records are kept as needed for accounting. Your resume content can be deleted in My resumes, or by request to support@jobb.ae.

Payment records typically need to be retained for business accounting and to handle questions such as refunds or duplicate charges.

Also consider copies outside ResumeBuilder.ae:

  • PDFs and JSON backups on your devices or cloud storage.
  • Resumes you sent to employers or uploaded to job sites.

Delete your own files if you want them gone, and contact employers or job sites directly about copies they hold. If you have questions about what is kept, read the privacy policy or email support.

Is it safe to put my phone number and email on my resume?

Yes, it is normal and necessary. Employers need a way to contact you, so a phone number and email address are standard. The key is to share only what is needed.

Safer habits:

  • Use a personal email you check often, not a work email.
  • Consider a separate email address just for job applications.
  • Give your city and country rather than your full home address.
  • Leave out ID numbers, passport details, bank information and other sensitive data.

Be careful with job offers that arrive unexpectedly and ask for money or documents. Genuine employers do not usually ask for fees, and they request ID documents only at a later, formal stage.

Open the resume builder

Should I include my passport, ID or social security number on my resume?

No. Leave ID numbers off your resume. They are not needed to decide whether to interview you, and they can be misused if your resume is shared widely. Canada's Job Bank, for example, advises never to include your Social Insurance Number.

Leave out:

  • Passport numbers and copies.
  • National ID, Emirates ID, Aadhaar, CNIC or social security numbers.
  • Bank account details.
  • Date of birth, unless a specific employer or form requires it.

When an employer genuinely needs these details, usually after an offer for visa, contract or payroll purposes, they will ask through a formal process. Provide them then, through a secure channel.

ResumeBuilder.ae's personal details do not include fields for ID numbers or date of birth, which helps keep them off your resume.

Is it a problem to use a private or incognito window for the builder?

It can be. Private or incognito windows usually delete site data when you close them. As a guest on ResumeBuilder.ae, your resumes are saved against a private key in the browser, so closing the window can mean losing access to them.

If you use a private window:

  • Download a backup ("Download all my resumes (JSON)") before closing it.
  • Or log in, so your resumes do not depend on that window.
  • Download your PDF before closing, if you have paid for it.

For long editing sessions on your own device, a normal browser window is usually better. On a shared computer, a private window can still be sensible for privacy, as long as you take a backup first.
