Administrative Assistant resume
How do I write a strong administrative assistant resume summary?
Name the type of office you support, the main tasks you handle and one sign that you make the office run better. Three lines are enough. Hiring managers for admin roles want to know quickly who you supported, how busy it was and which systems you use.
Include:
- Your years of experience and the setting (law firm, school, construction company, government office).
- Core tasks: calendar management, correspondence, filing, purchase orders, meeting support.
- Key tools: Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, an ERP or HR system if relevant.
- Languages, if the role uses more than one.
Example (fictional): "Administrative assistant with four years supporting a 30-person engineering office. Manage calendars for three managers, raise purchase orders in SAP and keep project files audit-ready. Fluent in English and Arabic correspondence."
Example (fictional): "Organised and discreet administrative assistant supporting a busy school principal's office, handling parent letters, staff rotas and event logistics."
Avoid a summary of adjectives only ("hardworking, punctual, multitasker"). Show those qualities through the tasks and results you mention, and tailor the setting and tools to each advert.
