Auditor resume

What should an auditor resume summary say?

State whether you are an external or internal auditor, your level, the industries you audit and your qualification status. These are the first things audit hiring managers filter on.

Include:

  • External (statutory) audit or internal audit, plus years of experience.
  • Industries: banking, real estate, manufacturing, retail, government, not-for-profit.
  • Qualification, e.g. ACCA, CPA, CA or CIA, and whether it is completed or in progress.
  • One strength, such as leading engagements or data analytics.

Example (fictional): "External auditor with five years at a mid-tier firm, leading fieldwork on audits of manufacturing and retail clients. ACCA member with strong experience in IFRS reporting and audit sampling."

Example (fictional): "Internal auditor in banking, focused on operational and IT controls reviews, CIA candidate."
