Business Analyst resume

What should a business analyst resume summary say?

Say what kind of analysis you do, in which business area, with which methods, and what changed because of your work. A good business analyst summary is three or four lines and names your domain (banking, retail, logistics, government), your delivery style (Agile, Waterfall or hybrid) and one result that shows you turned unclear needs into working solutions.

Build it from these parts:

  • Your title and years of experience, written honestly.
  • The domain and type of systems you work on, such as CRM, ERP or digital channels.
  • Two or three core methods: requirements elicitation, process mapping, user stories, UAT.
  • One outcome that a hiring manager can picture.

Example (fictional): "Business analyst with six years in retail banking, translating stakeholder needs into user stories and acceptance criteria for mobile and branch systems. Led requirements for a loan-application redesign that cut manual handoffs between three teams."

Avoid a summary that only lists soft qualities such as "detail-oriented team player". Every BA claims those. Rewrite the summary for each application so the domain and methods match the job advert.
