Financial Analyst resume

Do certifications like CFA or FMVA help a financial analyst resume?

They can help, especially for investment, valuation and corporate finance roles, and they show commitment to the field. List them with the full name, awarding body and year, or the level passed.

Examples analysts list:

  • CFA Program – Level I, II or III passed, or CFA charterholder
  • Financial Modeling and Valuation Analyst (FMVA)
  • CMA (Certified Management Accountant), for FP&A roles
  • ACCA or CPA, for analysts with an accounting background
  • FRM (Financial Risk Manager), for risk roles

Example (fictional): "CFA Program – Level II candidate (Level I passed, 2025)."

Use the exact wording the awarding body allows for candidates and charterholders. Do not write "CFA" after your name unless you are a charterholder. Pair each certification with experience that shows you use the skills.
