Procurement / Purchasing Officer resume
What should a procurement or purchasing officer resume include?
A procurement officer resume should show what you buy, how much and for whom, the procurement process you manage (from requisition to purchase order and supplier performance), your systems, and results such as savings, lead time and compliance. Employers want to see category knowledge and commercial judgement, not just "raised POs".
Core sections:
- Header: name, "Procurement Officer" or "Purchasing Officer", contact details, city.
- Summary naming industry, categories and strengths.
- Key skills: sourcing, RFQs and tenders, negotiation, supplier evaluation, contract management, ERP systems.
- Experience with bullets that include spend, categories and outcomes where you can share them.
- Education and certifications.
Example summary (fictional): "Procurement officer with six years in facilities management, buying MEP spares, consumables and subcontract services through SAP, with a focus on competitive tendering and supplier performance."
Keep it to one or two pages.
