Templates for students, mid-career and executives

What does a good executive resume template look like?

A good executive template is understated and polished: single column, generous white space, classic typography, a strong summary and selected achievements near the top.

Key features:

  • Your name and title presented confidently but simply.
  • An executive summary of three to five lines covering scope, sector and signature results.
  • A short "Selected Achievements" section with major outcomes.
  • Experience with scope lines and results-focused bullets.
  • Board roles, education and qualifications at the end.

Executive readers, such as boards and search firms, value clarity and judgement. A calm, well-edited document signals both far better than graphics or bold design.

Length is usually two pages, occasionally three for long careers with board roles. Use the same style for every role entry and keep earlier career brief, so the reader's attention stays on the last ten to fifteen years of leadership.
