Name, title and contact header design

What should the header of a resume include?

A resume header should include your full name, a professional title, and the contact details an employer needs to reach you. Keep it short so your experience starts high on the page.

A typical header:

  • Full name, in the largest text on the page.
  • Professional title line, such as "Civil Engineer | Infrastructure and Roads".
  • Phone number with country code and a professional email address.
  • City and country (a full street address is rarely needed).
  • One or two relevant links, such as LinkedIn or a portfolio.

Optional items depend on your region and situation, for example nationality, visa status, driving licence or notice period, which are common on Gulf CVs. Leave out anything the employer does not need to make a decision, and keep the whole header to a few lines.
