Links, portfolios and online profiles

Should I include my LinkedIn profile on my resume?

Yes, if your profile is complete, up to date and consistent with your resume. Many recruiters look candidates up anyway, and a link saves them the search while showing you have nothing to hide.

Include it when:

  • Your profile has a clear photo or none, a headline, your work history and matching dates.
  • The details agree with your resume: titles, employers and dates.
  • It adds something, such as recommendations, posts or a fuller project history.

Leave it out, or fix the profile first, if it is half-finished, years out of date, or contradicts your resume. An inconsistent profile can raise more questions than having no link at all.

Put the link in your contact line, written as a short custom address such as "linkedin.com/in/omar-haddad". It is optional in most countries and roles, so its absence will not usually count against you.
