Converting between PDF, Word and plain text
Is it safe to upload my resume to a free online PDF converter?
It can be risky, because you are giving a full copy of your personal details to a website you know little about. Your resume holds your name, phone, email, work history and sometimes nationality or visa status.
Before using any online converter:
- Read its privacy policy: how long does it keep files, and does it delete them?
- Avoid sites that ask for unnecessary sign-up details or show aggressive pop-ups.
- Remove details you do not need for the conversion, if possible.
- Prefer a converter built into software you already use, such as a word processor that can open PDFs, which works on your own device.
Often the safest option is not to convert at all: copy the text from your builder or original file into a blank document yourself.
