Chef / Cook resume
What should a sous chef resume focus on?
Focus on running the kitchen when the head chef is away: supervising the brigade, ordering, controlling costs and keeping standards. A sous chef resume should show leadership as well as cooking.
Points to cover:
- Team size and how you trained or scheduled them.
- Ordering, stock control and food cost work.
- Menu development and specials.
- Hygiene audits and inspection results.
Example bullets (fictional):
- "Led a brigade of 14 across breakfast, lunch and banquet services, covering the head chef two days a week."
- "Brought monthly food cost back within the hotel's target by renegotiating two suppliers and tightening portion control."
Describe cost results in the way your kitchen reported them, and say clearly which part was your work.
