Doctor / Physician resume – Page 2
Should a physician list languages spoken with patients?
Yes. Languages you use with patients are useful information for many employers, particularly in multilingual cities and in the Gulf. List them in a Languages section with a simple, honest level.
Example (fictional):
"Languages
- English – fluent (clinical and professional use)
- Arabic – fluent (native)
- Urdu – conversational (history-taking with interpreter support for complex discussions)"
Use plain level descriptions or a recognised scale such as the CEFR levels. If you have a language test result required for licensing in a country, list it with the test name and date as issued. Avoid overstating ability, because clinical communication needs real fluency.
