Writing bullet points

In what order should I put the bullet points under a job?

Put the most important and most relevant bullet first, then continue in order of relevance to the job you are applying for. Readers often read only the first two or three bullets of each role.

How to decide the order:

  • Lead with your biggest achievement or the responsibility that matches the job advert most closely.
  • Follow with other core responsibilities and results.
  • Put routine or less relevant tasks last, or remove them.

Example (applying for a team leader role):

  • "Led a shift of 10 agents and covered for the supervisor during leave."
  • "Handled escalated complaints and approved refunds up to an agreed limit."
  • "Answered billing and technical queries by phone and chat."

The same job may need a different order for a different application.
