Keeping several versions for different jobs
I sent the wrong resume version to an employer. What should I do?
If the version you sent is truthful and broadly relevant, it is usually best to leave it. If it names the wrong company, has wrong contact details or a serious mistake, send a brief, polite correction.
Example email: "Dear Ms Rahman, I noticed I attached an earlier version of my CV to my application for the Logistics Coordinator role. Please find the correct version attached. Apologies for any confusion. Kind regards, Arjun Nair"
Points to remember:
- Do not send several corrections; one is enough.
- If you applied through a portal, check whether you can replace the file there.
- Note the correct version in your application log.
Then set up clear version names so it does not happen again.
