Loading the PDF Editor…

Change a PDF without installing anything: correct a line of text, fill in a form that is not fillable, sign a contract, add a logo, highlight what matters, or put pages in the right order before you send the file. The editor opens your PDF in this browser tab and writes a new PDF when you download it. Your original file is never changed.

What you can do

  • Edit existing text. Click a line and type. The old words are removed from the PDF and the new ones are written as real, searchable text in the document’s own font when it contains the letters you need.
  • Add text. Text boxes with font, size, bold, italic, underline, colour, background, alignment, line and letter spacing, opacity and rotation.
  • Add images. JPG, PNG (with transparency) and WebP: move, resize, rotate, crop, replace and set opacity.
  • Annotate. Highlight, underline and strike through text, add sticky notes, draw freehand, and add rectangles, ellipses, lines, arrows, custom shapes, ticks and crosses.
  • Sign. Draw, type or upload your signature or initials, and insert the date.
  • Organize pages. Reorder, rotate, delete, duplicate and crop pages, insert blank pages or pages from other PDFs, extract pages and split a PDF into several files.
  • Finish the document. Watermarks, page numbers, headers and footers, links, password protection (AES-256) and optional compression.

How to edit a PDF online

  1. Open your PDF. Press Choose PDF File or drag the file onto the page. Password-protected PDFs open after you enter the password.
  2. Pick a tool on the left. The panel on the right shows the settings for the tool or for whatever you have selected.
  3. Make your changes. Everything can be moved, changed or deleted again, and Undo (Ctrl+Z) steps back through your edits.
  4. Download. Press Download PDF. The new file is opened again and checked before the download starts.

How to change text that is already in the PDF

Choose Edit text. Lines that can be edited get a blue outline; click one and type. You can also change its size and colour, nudge it, or delete it. Each line is edited on its own: paragraphs do not re-flow, so if a new sentence is much longer, split it over the next line or shorten it. If the new words would run into the text after them, the line is narrowed slightly so it still fits.

Many PDFs embed only the letters they use. If you type a letter the original font does not contain, the edited line is written in the closest standard font (serif or sans, bold or italic as before) and the panel tells you so before you download. Text drawn as shapes, and pages that are only scanned images, cannot be edited this way: for a scan, choose Recognise text (OCR), click a recognised line and type the replacement. That places new, real text on a patch that covers the scanned line; the original scan stays underneath in the file, and the editor says so.

How to add text and images

Choose Add text and click where the text should start, or drag to set the width of the box. For an image, choose Image, click on the page and pick a file. Drag the corner handles to resize (proportions are kept unless you hold Shift), the round handle to rotate, and use the panel for exact sizes, opacity and cropping. On rotated pages, new text and images are placed upright as you see the page.

How to sign a PDF

Choose Sign, then draw your signature with a mouse, pen or finger, type your name in a handwriting style, or upload a photo of your signature (the white background can be made transparent). Click where it should go and resize it. You can add initials and today’s date the same way. Signatures are saved on your device only if you tick the box, and you can delete them at any time.

Good to know: this creates a visual electronic signature, a picture of your signature on the page. It is not a certificate-based digital signature, it does not verify who signed, and whether it is accepted depends on the organisation and the law that applies to your document.

How to organize PDF pages

Choose Organize pages to see every page. Select pages with a click (Shift for a range, Ctrl to add), then rotate, duplicate, delete or move them by dragging or with Ctrl and the arrow keys. Insert PDF merges other PDFs into the document, Extract selected saves chosen pages as a new PDF, and Split creates several PDFs at once (every N pages or by ranges), downloaded together as a ZIP file.

Privacy and security

The editor runs entirely in your browser: your PDF, the text you type and any password are processed on your own device. Nothing is uploaded to our server and nothing is stored there, so we never see your document. When you close the editor or the tab, the document is removed from memory. Our site statistics record only which tools are used, never file names or contents.

Password protection uses AES-256, the standard encryption of current PDF readers. A protected file is only offered after the editor has confirmed that it cannot be opened without the password. Permission settings such as “no printing” are respected by most PDF apps, but not all.

Supported files and limitations

  • PDF files up to 100 MB and 500 pages. Very large files depend on the memory of your device.
  • Images: JPG, PNG and WebP. HEIC photos from iPhones need to be converted to JPG first.
  • Existing text is edited line by line. Text in Type 3 fonts, vertical text and text inside clipping paths cannot be edited; the editor explains why when you click it.
  • New text supports Latin, Greek and Cyrillic scripts, Arabic and Hebrew. Chinese, Japanese and Korean are not supported for new text.
  • Text recognition (OCR) is in English and works best on clear scans.
  • Fillable form fields in the original are kept, but cannot be filled in with this editor. Pages inserted from other PDFs keep their appearance but lose their form fields.
  • Bookmarks and links to removed pages are cleared, so they never point to a page that no longer exists.

Frequently asked questions

Is the PDF editor really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many PDFs you edit or download.

Is my PDF uploaded to your server?

No. The PDF is opened, edited and saved inside your browser. It never leaves your device.

Can I edit the existing text in my PDF?

Usually, yes. Choose Edit text and click a line. The old text is replaced in the PDF itself, not covered up. Scanned pages contain pictures instead of text; for those, use Recognise text (OCR) to replace a line with new text placed over the scan.

Why does an edited line use a different font?

PDFs often contain only the letters that were used. When you type a letter that is missing from the embedded font, the line is written in the most similar standard font. The panel shows this before you download.

Is a signature added here legally binding?

It is a visual electronic signature. Many organisations accept it for everyday documents, but it is not a certificate-based digital signature and does not prove identity. Check what the recipient requires.

Can I edit a password-protected PDF?

Yes, if you know the password. The edited PDF is saved without a password unless you add one with Protect.

Does it work on phones and tablets?

Yes. Pages, tools and settings adapt to the screen, and you can draw and sign with your finger.

Can I undo a change?

Yes. Undo and Redo (Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Shift+Z) work for every edit, including page changes. Until you download, your original PDF is not touched.
