Downloads, File Formats and Troubleshooting
Download and payment problems on ResumeBuilder.ae
Most download problems have simple causes: a browser that blocked the file, an extension, a weak connection, low storage or a tab closed too early. This topic walks through what to check when you paid for your resume PDF on ResumeBuilder.ae but nothing arrived, the file will not open or the payment page misbehaved. It explains retrying without paying again, what happens with duplicate charges and undelivered PDFs under the Refund Policy, and what to include when you contact support. The general browser and device steps also help with downloads from any website.
I paid for my resume but nothing downloaded. What should I check first?
First check whether the file actually saved somewhere, then retry. Many browsers save a PDF quietly without opening it, so a "missing" resume is often already on your device.
Check in this order:
- Open your browser's downloads list and look for the newest PDF.
- Look in your Downloads folder, sorted by date, newest first.
- Look for a blocked-download or pop-up message near the address bar.
- If there is no file, go back to the same resume in the same browser and try the download again.
On ResumeBuilder.ae, after paying you can download again or retry for 7 days, up to 10 attempts, and a failed PDF generation can be retried without paying again. If the file still does not appear, email support@jobb.ae with any payment receipt or reference you have, the date and time of payment and the browser and device you used.
My browser blocked the resume download. How do I allow it?
Allow downloads for the site in your browser's settings, then try the download again. Browsers sometimes stop a download they did not expect, especially if the page tried to start more than one file or a pop-up was involved.
General steps (menu names vary by browser and version):
- Look for a small icon or message in or near the address bar saying a download or pop-up was blocked.
- Click it and choose to allow downloads or pop-ups for this site.
- If there is no message, open the browser's site settings for the page and set downloads or pop-ups to "Allow".
- Reload the page only after the setting is saved, then download again.
Since retries after payment are allowed for 7 days, up to 10 attempts, a blocked first try does not mean you lose your payment.
How do I find my resume in the browser's downloads list?
Open the browser's downloads list with its menu, then look for the most recent PDF. Every major browser keeps a list of recent downloads, and it shows where each file was saved.
How to reach it in general:
- On a computer, open the browser menu (often three dots or lines) and choose Downloads, or use the browser's keyboard shortcut for downloads.
- On a phone, open the browser menu and look for Downloads, or check your Files app.
- In the list, choose the option to show the file in its folder so you can see exactly where it went.
If the entry says "failed", "cancelled" or "blocked", the file was not saved. Return to your resume and retry the download. If the list shows nothing at all, the download never started, so check whether the browser blocked it.
The PDF downloaded but it is 0 KB or won't open. What happened?
The file is probably incomplete, so download it again rather than trying to repair it. A 0 KB file or one that shows "damaged" or "failed to load" usually means the download was interrupted or stopped before the PDF was finished.
What to do:
- Delete the broken file so you don't send it by mistake.
- Make sure your connection is stable and your device has free storage.
- Keep the resume page open and don't switch away while the PDF is being created; it is generated in your browser.
- Retry the download. After paying you have 7 days and up to 10 attempts.
- Open the new file straight away to confirm it shows every page.
If every attempt produces a broken file, try another up-to-date browser, then email support@jobb.ae with the date and time of payment, any payment reference and a short description. PDFs that could not be delivered are refunded under the Refund Policy.
My PDF is taking a long time to generate. Should I wait or refresh?
Wait a little longer first, and avoid refreshing or closing the page while it is working. On ResumeBuilder.ae the PDF is generated in your own browser, so a slower or busy device may need more time, especially for a long resume or a non-Latin script such as Arabic or Malayalam.
While you wait:
- Keep the tab open and in front; on a phone, keep the screen on.
- Close other heavy tabs or apps to free memory.
- Don't click the download button again and again.
If nothing happens after a reasonable wait, refresh the page, open the same resume and try once more. A failed PDF generation can be retried without paying again. If it keeps stalling, try another browser or device and contact support@jobb.ae with the details.
Can I close the tab while my resume PDF is being created?
No, keep the tab open until the file has finished downloading. The PDF is generated in your browser, so closing the tab, locking your phone or putting your laptop to sleep can stop the process before the file is saved.
Good habits during download:
- Stay on the page until you see the file in your downloads list.
- On a phone, don't switch to another app in the middle.
- On a laptop, keep it plugged in if the battery is low.
- Open the PDF once to confirm it is complete before you leave the page.
If you closed the tab by accident, don't worry. Open the same resume again in the same browser and retry. After paying you can download again for 7 days, up to 10 attempts, and a failed generation can be retried without paying again.
If I press download again after it fails, will I be charged twice?
Retrying a failed PDF does not need a new payment. On ResumeBuilder.ae a failed PDF generation can be retried without paying again, and after paying you can download again or retry for 7 days, up to 10 attempts.
To keep things simple:
- Retry from the same resume in the same browser you paid in.
- Click once and wait; repeated clicking can start several attempts at once.
- If you are taken to a payment page again unexpectedly, stop and check your bank or card app for the first charge before paying a second time.
If you do end up paying twice for the same resume, duplicate charges are refunded under the Refund Policy. Email support@jobb.ae with the dates and times of both payments and any references you have.
A pop-up blocker stopped my resume download. What do I do?
Allow pop-ups for the site just for this download, then try again. Pop-up blockers are built into most browsers and can stop a new window or a file download that opens automatically.
Steps in general terms:
- Look for a blocked pop-up icon in or near the address bar and click it.
- Choose to always allow pop-ups from this site, then click done.
- Retry the download from the same resume.
You do not have to turn off pop-up blocking for every website, only for the site you trust. If you use a separate pop-up blocking extension, pause it for the site in the same way. After paying, retries are allowed for 7 days, up to 10 attempts, so the blocked attempt does not cost you anything extra.
Could an ad blocker or privacy extension stop my PDF download?
Yes, it can, so test with the extension paused for the site. Ad blockers, script blockers and strict privacy extensions sometimes stop the scripts a page needs to create a file or open a secure payment page.
How to test:
- Open the extension's icon and pause or disable it for this site only.
- Reload the page and try the download again.
- Alternatively, open the site in another browser that has no extensions installed.
If the download works with the extension paused, you know the cause and can keep it paused for this site. If it still fails, the extension was not the problem; try another browser, check your connection and storage, and then contact support@jobb.ae with your payment details. Remember to turn your extension back on afterwards if you rely on it for other sites.
The download works in one browser but not another. Why?
Each browser has its own settings, extensions and stored data, so one of those is likely interfering. The PDF is generated in the browser, which means browser differences matter more than they do for an ordinary file download.
Common causes in the browser that fails:
- Downloads or pop-ups are blocked for the site.
- An extension, such as an ad blocker, is stopping a script.
- The browser is out of date.
- Very strict privacy or tracking settings.
The simplest fix is to use the browser that works. Bear in mind that guest resumes are saved against a private key in the browser where you made them, so a resume made in one browser will not appear in another unless you logged in or restore a backup. If you paid in one browser and need to switch, contact support@jobb.ae before paying again.
Can an out-of-date browser cause problems with downloading my resume?
Yes, an old browser version can fail to create or save files that newer versions handle easily. Because the PDF is generated in your browser, the browser itself does the work, and older versions may lack features the page relies on.
What to do:
- Check your browser's "About" page; most browsers update themselves from there.
- Restart the browser after updating so the new version is actually in use.
- On a phone, update the browser from your app store, and check that the phone's own system updates are installed if you can.
- If your device cannot run a recent browser, try on another device, such as a friend's laptop or a library computer, but log out and remove your file afterwards.
After paying you can retry for 7 days, up to 10 attempts, so updating first and then downloading costs nothing extra.
My office computer won't let me download files. What are my options?
Use a personal device instead, or ask your IT team; don't try to get around company security. Work computers often block downloads, payments or certain sites by policy.
Options:
- Finish and download your resume on your own phone, tablet or home computer.
- If you started the resume on the work computer as a guest, remember it is saved in that browser only. Download a backup from My resumes ("Download all my resumes (JSON)") or log in, so you can continue on your own device.
- Avoid saving personal job-search files on an employer's device in any case, since your employer may be able to see them.
Once you are on your own device, open the resume, check it and download. If you already paid on the work computer, retries are allowed for 7 days, up to 10 attempts; if you cannot reach the resume from your own device, email support@jobb.ae.
My antivirus flagged or removed the resume PDF. What should I do?
Check the antivirus quarantine or history, and if you are sure the file is the one you just created, restore it or download it again. Security software sometimes reacts to new PDFs created by a website, even when they are harmless.
Steps:
- Open your antivirus program and look at its recent detections or quarantine list.
- Confirm the file name and time match your resume download.
- Restore it only if you are confident it is yours; otherwise delete it and download again.
- If the software keeps removing it, try another browser or device rather than switching protection off completely.
Before sending a resume to an employer, open it yourself to confirm it displays normally. If your security software repeatedly blocks every attempt, contact support@jobb.ae with the warning text so the issue can be looked at, and retry within your 7 days and 10 attempts.
I can't find where my resume downloaded on my Windows or Mac computer. Where is it?
It is almost always in the Downloads folder, unless your browser is set to ask where to save. The quickest way to find it is from the browser itself.
On any computer:
- Open the browser's downloads list and choose to show the file in its folder.
On Windows:
- Open File Explorer and select Downloads in the left panel, then sort by date modified.
On Mac:
- Open Finder and choose Downloads in the sidebar, or click the downloads stack in the Dock.
You can also search the computer for "pdf" or part of your name. Once you find it, move it into a clearly named folder, for example "Job applications 2026", so you can attach the right version later. If the file truly isn't anywhere, retry the download from the same browser.
My browser warns that the file may be harmful. Should I keep it?
Only keep it if you are sure it is the resume you just downloaded from the site you used; otherwise discard it. Browsers show general warnings for files that are new, uncommon or downloaded in an unusual way, and the warning does not by itself mean something is wrong.
How to decide:
- Check the file name ends in ".pdf" and the time matches your download.
- Make sure you downloaded it from the resume site you were using, not from a link in a message.
- If anything looks odd, such as an unexpected file type, discard it and retry.
If you keep it, open it and confirm it shows your resume. If you discard it, retry the download; after paying you can download again for 7 days, up to 10 attempts. Never open unexpected files that claim to be resumes from unknown senders.
Some characters are missing in my downloaded resume. Why?
Most likely your resume contains characters the PDF cannot print, such as Chinese, Japanese or Korean text, or unusual symbols. The builder warns about this before payment, but it never blocks you from continuing.
What to do:
- Look for the missing letters, emoji or symbols in your resume content.
- Replace them with plain text alternatives, for example write a skill level in words instead of using stars.
- If your name is in a script that is not supported, write it in Latin letters.
- Check that the resume language chosen on the Design tab matches the text you typed.
Then download again. After paying you can download again or retry for 7 days, up to 10 attempts, including after edits. If characters are missing that the builder should support, email support@jobb.ae with an example.
The secure payment page won't open. What can I try?
Allow pop-ups and redirects for the site, pause extensions and try again with a stable connection. ResumeBuilder.ae takes payment through Stripe Checkout, which opens a secure payment page, and browsers or extensions sometimes block that step.
Things to try:
- Allow pop-ups for the site if a blocked pop-up icon appears.
- Pause ad blockers or privacy extensions for the site.
- Turn off a VPN for a moment if you use one.
- Try another up-to-date browser.
- On a phone, open the site in your main browser rather than inside another app.
If the page still won't open, nothing has been charged at that point, so you can wait and try later. If you think you were charged without seeing the payment page finish, check your card app and email support@jobb.ae with the time.
The payment went through but I came back to the builder and saw no PDF. What now?
Retry the download from the same resume in the same browser; your payment still counts. After paying on ResumeBuilder.ae you can download again or retry for 7 days, up to 10 attempts, and a failed PDF generation can be retried without paying again.
Steps:
- Check your browser's downloads list in case the file saved quietly.
- Make sure downloads and pop-ups are allowed for the site.
- Keep the page open while the PDF is generated in your browser.
- If you are asked to pay again, stop and contact support instead of paying a second time.
If nothing works, email support@jobb.ae with any payment receipt or reference you have, the date and time of payment and your browser and device. A PDF that could not be delivered is refunded under the Refund Policy.
I closed my browser right after paying. Have I lost my payment?
No, you have not lost it, but go back in the same browser to retry. After paying you can download again or retry for 7 days, up to 10 attempts.
How to get back:
- Open the same browser on the same device you paid on.
- Open your resume from My resumes.
- Try the download again.
Guest resumes are saved against a private key in that browser, so switching to a different browser or device, or clearing site data, can lose access unless you logged in or kept a backup. If you can't reach the resume any more, email support@jobb.ae with the date and time of payment and any reference you have. Don't pay again for the same resume before contacting support.
What should I include when I email support about a download problem?
Include enough detail for support to find your payment and see the problem without a long back-and-forth. Send it to support@jobb.ae.
A helpful message includes:
- Any payment receipt or reference, if you have one.
- The date, time and time zone of your payment.
- The email address you used at checkout, if you gave one.
- Your device and browser, for example "Android phone, Chrome".
- What happened, in a sentence, plus the exact wording of any message you saw.
- A screenshot, with your card details and other private data covered.
Example: "Paid on 12 March around 3 pm Gulf time. The page seemed to finish, then nothing downloaded. Tried twice in Chrome on Windows. Reference attached."
Never send your full card number, card security code or banking password to anyone, including support.
When will a refund show on my card statement?
The timing depends on your bank or card provider, not only on the seller. Once a refund is issued, it usually travels back through the same payment route, and some banks show it quickly while others take longer to post it to your statement.
What you can do:
- Check your card or banking app for a "pending" or "reversal" entry as well as the statement.
- Keep any refund confirmation you receive.
- If it hasn't appeared after a while, ask your bank whether a refund from the merchant is waiting to be posted.
On ResumeBuilder.ae, duplicate charges and PDFs that could not be delivered are refunded under the Refund Policy, which explains the process. If you are unsure whether a refund was issued, email support@jobb.ae with the date of the original payment.
I changed my mind after downloading. Can I get a refund?
Check the Refund Policy, which sets out when refunds apply. On ResumeBuilder.ae, the Refund Policy covers duplicate charges and PDFs that could not be delivered; these are refunded.
Before asking, think about whether the issue can be fixed instead:
- If you found a mistake, you can edit and download again for 7 days after paying, up to 10 attempts.
- If you want a different page size or template, change it and download again within the same window.
- If the file is broken or never arrived, that is a delivery problem: retry, then contact support.
For any refund question, email support@jobb.ae with the date of payment, any reference you have and the reason. Being clear about what went wrong helps support give you an answer faster.
The checkout said the payment failed, but my bank app shows a charge. What is going on?
It may be a temporary hold, called a pending authorisation, rather than a completed payment. Banks often reserve the amount when a payment is attempted and release it later if the payment did not complete.
What to do:
- Look at whether the entry is marked "pending" or fully "posted".
- Don't pay again straight away; wait and check whether the hold disappears.
- Take a screenshot of the failed checkout message and the bank entry.
If the charge is posted and you have no PDF, or you paid twice, email support@jobb.ae with the date, time and screenshots. Duplicate charges and PDFs that could not be delivered are refunded under the Refund Policy. If a pending hold stays for a long time, your bank can tell you its usual release time.
My internet keeps dropping. How can I download my resume reliably?
Wait for a stable connection before you start, and keep the page open until the file is saved. An unstable connection can interrupt the payment step or stop the file from loading fully.
Practical tips:
- Move closer to your Wi-Fi router, or switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data to see which is steadier.
- Pause big downloads, video calls or streaming on the same network.
- Don't start the download while travelling through areas with weak signal.
- After the file saves, open it to make sure every page is there.
If a download is interrupted after you paid, you can retry for 7 days, up to 10 attempts, and a failed generation can be retried without paying again. If your connection fails in the middle of payment, check your bank app before trying to pay again.
Why might my download fail in private or incognito mode?
Private modes block or clear some stored data, and that can interfere with saving your resume, your payment step or the download. Some browsers also apply stricter tracking protection in private windows.
There is a second risk: guest resumes are saved against a private key in the browser, and a private window usually forgets everything when you close it. That means your resume, and easy access to it after payment, can disappear.
Better approach:
- Build and download your resume in a normal browser window on your own device.
- If you must use private mode, finish in one sitting, download the PDF and a backup ("Download all my resumes (JSON)") before closing.
- If you paid in a private window and lost access, email support@jobb.ae with the payment details rather than paying again.
