Downloads, File Formats and Troubleshooting
Re-downloading and editing after payment
Paying for your resume PDF on ResumeBuilder.ae is not a one-shot download. For 7 days after payment you can download again or retry, up to 10 attempts, including after edits, and the cover letter for that resume is covered in the same window. This topic explains how that window works, what counts as editing the same resume versus making a different one, how to plan corrections and tailored versions, and how to keep track of the files you download. It helps anyone who has paid, or is about to pay, and wants to get the most from one export.
How long can I keep downloading my resume after paying?
For 7 days after payment. During that time you can download the PDF again or retry, up to 10 attempts, including after edits, with no extra charge.
What this means in practice:
- You can fix a typo you spot the next day and download the corrected PDF.
- You can download again if you lose the file or it gets deleted.
- A failed PDF generation can be retried without paying again.
After the 7 days, or once you have used the 10 attempts, a new download is a new PDF export at US$1.00. To make the most of the window, check your resume carefully soon after paying, ask someone you trust to read it, and make your corrections within the week.
What does "up to 10 attempts" mean for my PDF?
It means that, within 7 days of paying, you can download or retry the PDF for that resume up to 10 times, whether or not you changed anything in between.
Examples of using attempts:
- The first download straight after paying.
- A second download after correcting a spelling mistake.
- A third after switching from A4 to US Letter for a job in the USA.
Ten attempts is plenty for normal checking and correcting, but there is no need to waste them. Click once, wait for the file and open it to check. If attempts are used up by a technical failure, email support@jobb.ae with the payment date.
I found a typo after downloading. Can I fix it without paying again?
Yes, if you are within 7 days of paying and have attempts left. You can edit the same resume and download it again, up to 10 attempts in total, including after edits.
Steps:
- Open the same resume in the builder, in the browser you used before.
- Fix the typo, and read the whole resume once more for any others.
- Download again.
- Delete or clearly rename the old file so you don't attach it by mistake.
A typo is a good reason to re-check everything else too: dates, phone number, email and job titles. If you already sent the old version, you usually don't need to resend it unless the mistake is in your contact details or the employer asks for an updated copy.
What happens after the 7 days are over?
You can still open, edit and preview your resume for free, but a new PDF download is a new export at US$1.00. Editing and previewing are always free; only the PDF download is paid.
Your saved resume doesn't disappear when the 7 days end. It stays in My resumes, under the usual saving rules: guest resumes live in that browser unless you logged in or kept a backup.
Plan ahead:
- Check and correct your resume soon after paying.
- Keep your downloaded PDF somewhere safe, so you don't need a new export just to get the same file again.
- When you need an updated version later, for example after a new job or course, edit and pay for a new export then.
There is no subscription, so nothing renews after the 7 days.
What happens if I use all 10 attempts?
Once the 10 attempts are used, the next download is a new PDF export at US$1.00 even if you are still within the 7 days. Your resume itself stays saved and editable for free.
To avoid running out:
- Make all your edits first, then download once.
- Check the preview carefully before each download.
- Don't click the download button repeatedly while a file is being created.
- Keep each PDF you download in a clear folder so you don't need to download the same version twice.
If your attempts were used up because downloads kept failing, that is a technical problem rather than normal use. Email support@jobb.ae with the payment date and what happened; a failed generation can be retried without paying again, and PDFs that could not be delivered are refunded.
Does the 7-day window start when I pay or when I first download?
It starts when you pay. The re-download and retry period runs for 7 days after payment, not from your first download.
So if you pay on a Monday but don't download until Thursday, you have less of the week left for corrections. The simplest approach:
- Finish editing and checking before you pay.
- Download straight after paying.
- Open the PDF and check it the same day.
- Note the payment date in your calendar so you know when the window ends.
If something prevented you from downloading at all during the 7 days, contact support@jobb.ae, because PDFs that could not be delivered are refunded under the Refund Policy.
Can I use my paid download to create a completely different resume?
Plan on a separate export. The 7 days and 10 attempts let you download the resume you paid for again, retry it and download it after edits; a separately saved resume is downloaded with its own US$1.00 export.
What counts as editing the same resume:
- Correcting mistakes and updating details.
- Adjusting your summary or bullets for a particular job.
- Changing the template or page size.
What needs its own export:
- A second saved resume, for example one for sales roles and one for admin roles.
- A resume for another person, such as a friend or family member.
If you are unsure which applies to your case, ask support@jobb.ae before downloading.
Can I tailor the same resume for several jobs during the 7 days?
Yes. You can edit the resume you paid for and download it again, up to 10 attempts within 7 days, including after edits. That lets you adjust the summary or reorder skills for each application during the week.
A good routine:
- Before each application, run the job-description comparison to see which important terms you have missed.
- Make honest adjustments, such as moving the most relevant bullet to the top of a role.
- Download, then name the file for the job, for example "Omar-Haddad-CV-Logistics.pdf".
- Keep a copy of each version you sent.
Keep the changes to the same resume; a resume for an entirely different career direction is better saved separately, with its own export.
Should I finish all my edits before I pay for the PDF?
Yes, as far as possible. Editing and previewing are free, and you can run the ATS-readiness check and the job-description comparison as many times as you like before paying.
A sensible order:
- Fill in every section and replace all sample text and [bracketed] prompts.
- Read the full preview, including page breaks.
- Ask someone you trust to read it.
- Look at the checklist before payment and fix what it flags.
- Pay and download, then open the PDF and check it once more.
The 7 days and 10 attempts after paying are a safety net for corrections and updates, not a replacement for careful checking. Finishing first means you'll use fewer attempts and have more of the window left for tailoring to specific jobs.
If I edit my resume after downloading, does the PDF I already sent change too?
No. A downloaded PDF is a fixed file. Editing your resume afterwards only changes what you get in your next download; the copy you already emailed or uploaded stays exactly as it was.
This matters because:
- Employers who received the old version still have the old version.
- Job portals keep the file you uploaded until you replace it.
If the change is important, for example a corrected phone number or email, upload the new PDF to the portal profile where that is allowed, or reply to the recruiter with a short note and the corrected file. For small wording changes, it is usually fine to use the updated version only for new applications.
Will downloading again overwrite my old PDF?
Usually not. Most browsers keep both files and add a number to the new one, such as "(1)" or "(2)", so you can end up with several similar files.
To keep things clear:
- After each download, open the newest file to confirm it has your latest changes.
- Rename it with a clear name, for example "Priya-Nair-CV-v2.pdf" or with the job it is for.
- Move older copies into an "Old versions" folder, or delete them if you don't need a record.
Keeping one obvious "current" file reduces the risk of attaching an old version with a mistake you already fixed. If you want a record of what you sent to each employer, keep those copies in a separate folder named by company.
How do I keep track of which downloaded version is the latest?
Give every download a clear name and keep the current version in one place. Relying on the default file name and date makes mistakes likely, especially after several re-downloads.
A simple system:
- One folder called "CV - current" holding only the latest PDF.
- One folder called "CV - sent" with a copy for each employer, named like "Amina-Yusuf-CV-BlueHarbour-2026-03.pdf".
- Delete or archive the rest.
Before each application, open the file you are about to attach and check one recent change, such as your newest job or updated phone number. That quick check takes seconds and confirms you are sending the right file.
Can I re-download my resume on another phone or computer?
Only if you can open the same resume there. Guest resumes are saved against a private key in the browser where you made them, so they won't appear on another device unless you logged in or restored a backup.
Practical options:
- Download on the original device and move the PDF across by email or cloud storage.
- If you logged in, open My resumes on the other device and check the resume is there.
- Keep a backup with "Download all my resumes (JSON)" in case you change devices.
Don't pay again on a second device for the same resume: after paying, you can download again or retry for 7 days, up to 10 attempts. If you can't reach the paid resume from any device, email support@jobb.ae with the payment date and time.
I cleared my browser after paying. Can I still re-download?
Possibly not from that browser, because clearing site data loses access to guest resumes unless you logged in or downloaded a backup. Your payment record still exists, so contact support rather than paying again.
What to do:
- If you logged in, log in again and check My resumes.
- If you have a JSON backup, restore it.
- If you have neither, email support@jobb.ae with the date and time of payment and any reference, and explain that you cleared your browser data.
If you already downloaded the PDF before clearing, look for it in your Downloads folder; you may not need anything else. In future, keep a backup and avoid clearing site data during your 7-day window.
Is the cover letter included in the 7 days and 10 attempts?
Yes. The cover letter you write for that resume can be downloaded as a PDF in the same 7 days and 10 attempts at no extra cost.
How to use it well:
- Write the cover letter in the builder before or soon after you pay.
- Tailor the opening and the company name for each employer before downloading.
- Download it, open it and check the employer's name and the job title are correct.
Because the cover letter uses the same 7 days and 10 attempts, plan your downloads rather than downloading every small change. If you need cover letters for many employers, consider sending the letter as the email body for some applications, which needs no download.
Can I change my cover letter for each employer and download it again?
Yes, within the 7 days after paying and the 10 attempts. The cover letter written for that resume can be edited and downloaded as a PDF in the same window at no extra cost.
Tips for each version:
- Change the company name, job title and the hiring manager's name if you know it.
- Rewrite one or two sentences to match what that employer asked for.
- Check that no old company name is left anywhere in the letter.
- Name each file clearly, such as "Rahul-Menon-Cover-Letter-Northwind.pdf".
The most common cover letter mistake is sending one with another employer's name in it. Open each PDF before attaching it, and read the first paragraph once more.
What counts as a "different resume" that needs a new export?
A separately saved resume, or a resume for a different person, needs its own US$1.00 export. Editing the same saved resume, even substantially, is covered for 7 days and up to 10 attempts after payment.
Covered by your existing payment:
- Fixing mistakes and updating dates or contact details.
- Tailoring the summary, skills and bullets for a job.
- Changing the template or page size.
Needs a new export:
- Another resume you saved, for example a second version for a different career.
- A resume you are making for a friend or relative.
If you keep separate resumes for different job types, it is worth paying for each when you need it, so each one gets its own 7 days of corrections.
I want to update my resume next month. Will I pay again?
Yes, if it is after the 7-day window or after you have used the 10 attempts. A new download then is a new PDF export at US$1.00. Editing and saving the resume in the meantime stays free.
How to keep costs low:
- Save your resume so you don't start from scratch; you can keep up to 10 resumes.
- Make updates as they happen, but download only when you are about to apply.
- Gather several updates together, such as a new certificate and new job duties, before downloading.
There is no subscription, so nothing is charged unless you choose to download. If you change device in between, keep a backup or log in so the resume is still there.
Should I pay now or wait until my resume is completely final?
Wait until the resume is as complete as you can make it, then pay and download when you are ready to apply. Editing, previewing and the checks are free, so there is no advantage in paying early.
Pay sooner if:
- You have an application deadline today or tomorrow.
- You need the PDF for a job fair or interview this week.
Wait if:
- You are still waiting for a new job title, result or certificate.
- You want someone to review it first.
Remember the 7 days start at payment. Paying when the resume is nearly final gives you the whole week for small corrections and tailoring rather than major rewrites.
I deleted my downloaded PDF by mistake. Can I get it back?
Yes, if you are within 7 days of paying and have attempts left: download it again from the same resume. If the window has ended, check your device's recycle bin or trash first.
Other places to look:
- Your sent email: if you emailed it to an employer or yourself, download it from there.
- Cloud storage or messaging apps where you shared it.
- A job portal profile where you uploaded it.
If none of those work and the window has ended, a new download is a new export at US$1.00. To avoid this, keep a copy in cloud storage or email the PDF to yourself after each download.
My friend's feedback will come after the 7 days. What should I do?
Ask for feedback before you pay, by sharing the free preview or a quick screenshot, not the paid PDF. Editing and previewing are free, so there is no need to buy the download until you have their comments.
Ways to get feedback first:
- Sit with the person and go through the preview together.
- Copy the text into an email for them to comment on.
- Share screenshots of the preview, covering personal details if you prefer.
If you already paid, ask them to look at it within the week and note when your 7 days end. Small changes after that time are a new export at US$1.00 and it pays to plan reviews before downloading.
Does previewing my resume use up a download attempt?
No. Previewing is free and is not a download. The 10 attempts after payment relate to downloading or retrying the PDF.
Use the preview as much as you like to:
- Check page breaks and layout.
- Compare templates.
- Confirm edits before you download.
Always open the downloaded file and check it as well, because that is the exact file employers will see. A good habit is to preview carefully, download once, open the PDF, and only download again if you find something to fix.
Can I download the same resume in both A4 and US Letter?
Yes. Within 7 days of paying, you can change the page size and download again; each download counts as one of your 10 attempts.
When both are useful:
- You are applying in the Gulf, UK or India (usually A4) and also to employers in the USA or Canada (usually US Letter).
- A recruiter asks for a specific size.
Tips:
- After switching size, check the preview for changed page breaks.
- Name the files clearly, for example "Sara-Ali-CV-A4.pdf" and "Sara-Ali-Resume-Letter.pdf".
- Open each one to confirm nothing has spilled onto an extra page.
Most employers accept either size, so you only need both if you are actively applying in both regions.
Can I still use the ATS check and job comparison after paying?
Yes. The ATS-readiness check and the job-description comparison are free and don't depend on payment, so you can keep using them while you edit.
A useful pattern within your 7 days:
- Paste a new job description into the comparison.
- See which of its most frequent terms are missing from your resume.
- Add only those that are honestly true for you, in natural sentences.
- Download the updated PDF, using one of your 10 attempts.
The ATS-readiness check is an internal, rule-based estimate of structure and completeness, not a score from any employer, so treat it as a checklist rather than a target to chase.
My downloaded PDF has an old phone number. How do I fix it?
Update the phone number in Personal details and download again. If you are within 7 days of paying and have attempts left, there is no extra cost; after that, a new download is a new export at US$1.00.
Steps:
- Enter the new number with the country code, for example +971 50 123 4567.
- Check your email address and city at the same time.
- Download the corrected PDF and delete the old file.
Wrong contact details are worth fixing quickly. Update any job portal profiles where you uploaded the old file, and if you sent the old version to an employer recently, send a short note with the correct number.
